Randeep Hooda: “I’ve Found a Deep Love for Writing”

Randeep Hooda

Mumbai : Acclaimed actor and director Randeep Hooda has revealed a new passion that fuels his creativity — writing. While acting remains his first love, Hooda says that writing has now become the most fulfilling part of his artistic journey.

“Over the years, I have found a deep love for writing. It’s now the most enjoyable part of any creative process for me,” Hooda shared. “Writing allows me to express stories I’ve lived, observed, or imagined. Whereas acting lets me step into someone else’s world, writing gives me a chance to create my own.”

Currently, Hooda is working on a series of short stories set in Versova and Aaram Nagar, two vibrant neighborhoods in Mumbai known as hubs for aspiring actors. His stories explore the realities of city life — from the trials of struggling performers and casting couch incidents to the humble existence of a bansuri wala (flute seller) who plays on the roadside every Sunday.

“Versova and Aaram Nagar are like silent stages for countless untold stories — of ambition, hardship, heartbreak, and hope,” Hooda said. “One story is inspired by a man I see every Sunday selling flutes, playing melodies that often go unnoticed in the city’s noise. Behind such lives are layers of emotion and struggle that deserve to be told.”

The Sarbjit actor says this writing process brings him clarity and purpose, helping him reflect deeply on life around him.

Upcoming Projects

On the screen, Randeep Hooda has two major projects in the pipeline. He will appear in “Matchbox”, an action-adventure comedy directed by Sam Hargrave, set for a Fall 2026 release. The film stars John Cena, Jessica Biel, Danai Gurira, and Randeep Hooda himself, and is inspired by the globally loved toy brand.

Additionally, Hooda is leading “Operation Khukri”, a large-scale military drama based on the real events of 2000, when 233 Indian peacekeepers were held hostage by rebels in Sierra Leone. The film is inspired by the book Operation Khukri: The Untold Story of the Indian Army’s Bravest Peacekeeping Mission Abroad, written by Major General Rajpal Punia and Damini Punia.

“This film will honor the bravery of the Indian Army and recount a mission that deserves far more recognition,” Hooda stated.

With powerful performances on-screen and meaningful storytelling off it, Randeep Hooda continues to evolve as one of India’s most versatile talents.
